Firefighter Busted for Drunk Driving after Helping Injured Pal in Queens Crash

Queens, NY – An attempted good deed left a firefighter in hot water when he got busted for drunk driving after helping an injured friend in a crash. A tragic incident unfolded at about 1:00 a.m. of September 4, when a 41-year-old Long Island man driving a BMW motorcycle slammed behind a parked NYPD Highway Patrol car along Cross Bay Boulevard in Queens. Due to the impact of the collision, the biker flew from his seat and onto the pavement, with his ride landing on top of the trunk of the officer’s vehicle. Authorities discovered him unconscious and unresponsive at the scene, so he was taken to Jamaica Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. When the firefighter came to the aid of his injured friend, a police officer allegedly smelled alcohol from his breath. He was then charged with driving while intoxicated and driving with ability impaired.
