11-Year-Old Girl Dies in SUV During Police Chase in Brooklyn

Brooklyn, NY – An 11-year-old girl died when the 2017 Dodge Journey, driven by her 39-year-old relative, flipped during a police chase. The fatal crash occurred at around 11:30 p.m. on December 24 when the SUV driver, a Hollis man, was stopped by state troopers due to a traffic violation; but sped away along I-87 in Ulster. The SUV driver collided into a State Police cruiser, causing him to lose control of the vehicle which flipped over near mile marker 93.6. He was taken to Kingston Hospital then moved to Westchester Medical Center for treatment of serious injuries. The child passenger, on the other hand, could not be saved.
