Traumatic Brain Injury Claims

A traumatic brain injury (TBI) occurs when something impacts your head. In a car accident, your head may strike an object such as a steering wheel, and your brain can also have a secondary impact with your skull. These are extremely serious, and they can present long-term issues.

An injury that results in a TBI meets all the criteria for pursuing a personal injury. However, the previously-mentioned symptoms may not appear immediately following the accident. Without question, these can have tremendous effects on your life, your ability to think, work, and pursue a high quality of life. And as severe as the injury is, it presents challenges in pursuing a financial settlement.

Symptoms of a TBI

The focus here is to help you recognize the symptoms so that you can seek medical treatment immediately. You need to be concerned with your health before your financial security. Seeing a doctor is a means to accomplish both. Not only can a doctor complete a neurological examination and identify issues, but they will also document these.

Though your symptoms may alter over time, your doctor will have supporting evidence that your lawyer can present during your personal injury case. To do that, you need to identify and see the signs of a TBI.

  • Dilated (large) pupils—especially if both eyes have different-sized/unequal pupils
  • Vomiting
  • Irritability
  • Cerebral spinal fluid (a clear liquid) coming from your ears or nose

Make it even easier. If you are in an accident that involves your head, find a doctor. The above list of symptoms is not exhaustive. Your doctor will give you a detailed rundown of what you need to be aware of.

Your Personal Injury Case

You need to be concerned with three things to get the most out of your personal injury case. The first is that you need to find a doctor and go to your appointments. Your doctor is there to provide precise medical care.

A professional personal injury attorney is there to craft an argument based on medical professionals’ evidence. Though both of these people can be valuable components of your team, there is one critical element left: you. Think of this as a collaborative effort. Your job is to continue your doctor’s treatment protocols and listen to an experienced attorney’s advice.
