1 Dead in a fatal crash in Rockland County

Rockland County, NYCState Police were called to investigate a major injury crash on I-87 northbound in the Rockland County village of Nyack. A preliminary assessment of the incident revealed that a New York State Thruway Wrecker was directing traffic for a disabled car on the left shoulder. While Congers Collision was loading the disabled vehicle, a 2017 Ram ProMaster cargo van traveling in the left lane rear-ended the Thruway Wrecker at high speed. At the time of the incident, the Wrecker was unoccupied, and the Thruway driver was aiding the disabled car. The driver of the 2017 Ram ProMaster cargo van was seriously injured and later taken to Nyack Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. There were no additional injuries reported.
