Elderly Couple Saved by Good Samaritans and Suffolk County Rescuers After Crashing Car Into Long Island Canal

Long Island, NY – An elderly couple was saved after crashing their car into a Long Island canal just after 12:00 p.m. on October 19, 2020. Good Samaritans and Suffolk County rescuers pulled the 78-year-old Massapequa man and his 76-year-old wife to safety after their 2004 Mercury struck a 2016 Subaru which got into a prior collision with another vehicle at the intersection of Venetial Promenade on Montauk Highway. The Mercury smashed through a fence, fell into the canal, and eventually vanished in the water. All patients were rushed to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip for sustaining non-life-threatening injuries.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, it has been observed that there is less traffic on the roads. Although it is evident that the number of cars has been reduced as an effect of the quarantine measures, it is not safe to say that the number of car accidents has also diminished. If you or a loved one have been hurt in a car crash in NYC, it is imperative that you consult a personal injury attorney to guide you on what to do moving forward. The vigorous lawyers at Silberstein, Awad & Miklos, PC can help you obtain the just compensation you are entitled to. Call 1-877-ASK4SAM for a free case evaluation or click here to learn more.
