Good Samaritan Killed by Hit-and-Run Driver While Helping Stranded Motorist

Queens, NY – A 51-year-old father was killed by a hit-and-run driver while helping a stranded motorist on Nassau Expressway in Springfield Gardens on the night of January 29. Police are now searching for the missing driver of a Ford E350 van, who was speeding down the expressway and struck the Long Island man and the 53-year-old driver of the stalled Dodge Caravan. The suspect abandoned the wrecked van and fled the scene. The Dodge operator survived with a knee injury; however the good Samaritan was pronounced dead at Jamaica Hospital.
