Manhattan, NY – Three passengers sustained injuries after a train accident in Chelsea, Manhattan at around 8:15 a.m. on September 22. Allegedly, a 30-year-old man threw construction debris onto the subway tracks at the 8th Avenue and 14th Street train station, causing a train to derail. The MTA crew was able to stop the train and safely discharge around 135 passengers at the station. The MTA also confirmed that the derailment caused loss of power to all four express tracks and serious train damage. The suspect was charged with reckless endangerment, criminal mischief, assault and criminal trespass.
